This retrospective study established normative computed tomographic (CT) parameters for palatine tonsils in 140 healthy dogs without tonsillar disease. All dogs had identifiable palatine tonsils on CT examination. Subjective findings included poor differentiation from adjacent soft tissues in 52.9% of cases post-contrast, gas present in 86.1% of tonsillar fossae, and mineral deposits in 7.9%. Mean tonsillar dimensions were width 6.9 mm, height 6.5 mm, and length 19.1 mm. Pre-contrast attenuation averaged 50.8 HU, significantly increasing to 89.4 HU post-contrast. Tonsillar size demonstrated negative correlation with age and positive correlation with bodyweight, with statistically significant increases across ascending bodyweight categories (≤10.0 kg, 10.1-25.0 kg, >25.0 kg). No significant differences were observed between brachycephalic and normocephalic breeds or between dogs with/without concurrent regional disease. These standardized measurements and imaging characteristics provide essential reference values for distinguishing normal palatine tonsillar anatomy from pathological changes on head CT examinations in canine patients.
