Twenty-seven oral tumor samples were processed using both FS and conventional formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) methods, with independent pathologist interpretation. Results demonstrated excellent diagnostic agreement (0.915) between FS and FFPE processing methods, comparable to human surgical pathology standards. Mean processing time for FS was approximately 20 minutes, making it practical for intraoperative decision-making. However, mitotic count assessment showed only poor to moderate agreement between methods. The study demonstrates that FS is a feasible, accurate, and timely tool for intraoperative oral tumor diagnosis in veterinary practice, enabling surgeons to make real-time decisions regarding surgical margins and treatment planning.
