This prospective study evaluated laparoscopic hepatectomy using en bloc hilar pedicle control (EHPC) in 10 client-owned dogs with hepatic masses. All dogs successfully completed the procedure without conversion to open surgery, with a median operative time of 165 minutes and median hospital stay of 3 days. Histopathology identified 9 hepatocellular carcinomas, 1 adenoma, and 2 cases of nodular hyperplasia. While most dogs recovered well, complications included one case of iatrogenic tension pneumothorax from diaphragmatic injury and three cases of bradycardia and hypotension following the Pringle maneuver. Long-term follow-up revealed disseminated hepatocellular carcinoma in one dog at 724 days post-surgery. All dogs were successfully discharged. The results demonstrate that laparoscopic hepatectomy using EHPC is a safe and viable minimally invasive approach for canine hepatic masses that do not involve the hilar pedicle, hepatic veins at the hilum, or caudal vena cava, offering favorable short- and long-term clinical outcomes.
