This case report describes successful laparoscopic typhlectomy in a 12-year-old male Labrador retriever with a cecal gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). The dog presented with a 3-week history of gastrointestinal signs and weight loss. Advanced imaging identified a 1.7 cm cecal mass without metastatic disease. Using a four-portal laparoscopic approach, surgeons dissected the ileocecal fold with ultrasonic and monopolar energy devices, then resected the cecum using a 60 mm endoscopic linear stapler with 2.5 mm cartridge. Surgical time was 66 minutes with specimen retrieval in a laparoscopic bag. The dog recovered without intraoperative complications, resumed feeding within 6 hours, and was discharged after 36 hours. Histopathology confirmed GIST with tumor-free margins. No recurrence or gastrointestinal complications occurred during 6-month follow-up. The patient survived 365 days before euthanasia for an unrelated neurological condition. This case demonstrates the feasibility and safety of minimally invasive laparoscopic typhlectomy as an alternative to conventional open surgery for selected cecal lesions in dogs.
